Two Men Charged With Murder After Teenagers Killed in Alleged Newport Hit-and-Run

Two men are due to appear in court today charged with murder following an alleged hit-and-run that claimed the lives of two teenagers in Newport.

Jaydon Bowyer, 19, and Ta-Shay Canoville, 16, were traveling on a motorbike near a roundabout on Aberthaw Road early Thursday morning when they were reportedly struck by a BMW.

The car is believed to have fled the scene immediately following the collision, leaving the two young men fatally injured in the road.

Gwent Police launched an urgent investigation in the wake of the, "horror crash", leading to the arrest of four individuals. Authorities have now confirmed that an 18-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, both from the Newport area, have been charged with murder.

Both defendants have been remanded in police custody and are scheduled to appear at Newport Magistrates’ Court today.

Two women, aged 24 and 40, who were also arrested on suspicion of murder during the initial stages of the inquiry, have since been released, police confirmed.

The local community has been left reeling by the tragedy, with tributes pouring in for the two victims. Friends and family members have shared their grief online and at the scene, describing the pair as, "best pals", whose lives were cut short far too soon.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with information or dashcam footage from the Aberthaw Road area around the time of the incident to come forward.
