Bus Roof Ripped Off in Dramatic Collision with Low Bridge in Bolton

Bolton, Greater Manchester – November 7th, 2025 – A shocking incident occurred this evening in Bolton when a Bee Network bus operated by Go North West had its roof completely ripped off after striking a low railway bridge. The dramatic collision took place on Weston Street in the Burnden area at approximately 7:45 PM.

Fortunately, the bus was empty of passengers at the time of the impact, and the driver is reported to have sustained no serious injuries.

The affected railway bridge, located south of Bolton town centre, has a height clearance of 3.7 metres and is clearly marked with prominent "LOW BRIDGE" signage. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) confirmed that the bus was en route back to its depot when the collision took place.

Greater Manchester Police responded to the scene and cordoned off Weston Street to facilitate the removal of the damaged bus and the subsequent clean-up operation.
