Manchester, UK – Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of highly-rated striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, in a significant move that bolsters their attacking options. The Slovenian international arrives at Old Trafford for an initial fee of €76.5 million (£66.4 million), with an additional €8.5 million (£7.3 million) in performance-related add-ons. Sesko has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Reds.

The acquisition of the 22-year-old forward comes after United moved swiftly to secure his services, confident in Sesko's preference for a move to Manchester despite Newcastle United submitting a more lucrative financial package. Sesko's decisive choice ultimately paved the way for the deal to be wrapped up quickly.
United had initially pursued Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, but turned their attention to Sesko after Villa reiterated their stance that Watkins was not for sale. Sesko himself had attracted early interest from Arsenal at the beginning of the transfer window.
Regarded as one of Europe's most exciting young centre-forwards, Sesko boasts an impressive record from his time in Germany, having scored 39 goals in 87 appearances for RB Leipzig. He also has a strong international goalscoring record, netting 16 goals in 41 games for Slovenia. This marks a long-standing interest from United, who had previously explored signing Sesko in the summer of 2022, with his agent visiting Carrington before the striker opted for Leipzig from fellow Red Bull franchise FC Salzburg.
Sesko, accompanied by his agent Elvis Basanovic, travelled to Manchester via private jet on Thursday evening to finalise the highly anticipated move.
The signing of Sesko contrasts slightly with United's earlier significant investments this summer, which saw them secure Premier League-proven talents Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford for a combined initial fee of £127.5 million. While the club has prioritised established top-flight players in some areas, internal belief is high that Sesko possesses the raw talent and potential to develop into one of the world's elite strikers.
Benjamin Sesko is expected to feature as Manchester United kick off their 2025/26 Premier League campaign at Old Trafford against Arsenal on Sunday, August 17th.
