Ann Summers at The Rock Bury Closes its Doors After Just Two Years

Bury, Greater Manchester – Popular lingerie retailer Ann Summers has unexpectedly closed its branch at The Rock shopping centre in Bury, just over two years after its much-anticipated opening. The store, located on Central Street in the former Paperchase unit, shut its doors for the final time on Saturday, August 23rd.

The closure comes as a surprise, given the fanfare surrounding its July 2023 launch. At the time, Ann Summers described its arrival as a bold new addition to The Rock's tenant line-up, joining other new arrivals such as Skechers and Kaspa’s Desserts. The company expressed excitement about bringing, "sexual empowerment, a good vibe and the expertise that comes with over 50 years of a business doing pleasure", to Bury shoppers.

Bold sale signs plastered across the shop windows this week announced a clearance sale, indicating the impending closure. While no official reason has been given for the sudden closure, Ann Summers’ statement suggests it is part of an ongoing review of its store portfolio, rather than a reflection of poor trading in Bury specifically.

The news is likely to disappoint local shoppers who welcomed the addition of the adult retailer to the town's shopping options. However, bargain hunters still had a chance to grab discounted lingerie and adult products before the store permanently closed.
