Predator Jailed for Over 11 Years for Abusing Young Children

Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester - April 25th, 2025 - Carl Sinderby, 43, has been sentenced to 11 years and four months in prison for a horrific campaign of abuse against two young children. The sentence was handed down at Minshull Street Crown Court on April 25th, following a thorough investigation by Greater Manchester Police.


Sinderby's appalling abuse lasted over three years, and reportedly ended in July 2024. His victims, who displayed immense courage in speaking to police, were just five and seven years old when the abuse began.

The court heard how Sinderby would ingratiate himself with the children's parents, deliberately building a false sense of trust only to exploit it behind their backs. His actions remained elusive, thus the abuse continued unchecked for a prolonged period.

He was found guilty of 20 offences, including ten counts of sexual assault, two counts of causing a child to watch a sexual act, two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and six counts of taking and making indecent images of children.

The investigation was launched by the Greater Manchester Police Online Child Abuse Investigation Team (OCAIT), working in conjunction with the Digital Forensic Investigation Unit (DFIU). Sinderby initially came to the attention of OCAIT after information was passed on by a partner agency.

A swift investigation was launched, and specially trained digital investigators uncovered damning evidence of Sinderby's sickening abuse on devices seized from his property.

Faced with the overwhelming evidence, Sinderby was arrested and interviewed over two days by detectives. He made a full confession, admitting to his prolonged abuse of the children, his sexual interest in children, and that he had harmed them to satisfy his desires.

Following the sentencing, police officials stated their absolute commitment, alongside the Crown Prosecution Service, to removing offenders like Sinderby from the streets. They emphasised the significant danger he poses to society, particularly children. They expressed confidence that with Sinderby behind bars, the streets of Greater Manchester are now significantly safer.
